In our book Skopelos Town is one of the loveliest in Greece. Full of traditional charm and character, the whitewashed houses and many small chapels are stepped amphitheatrically up the hill. Below, the colourful harbour has a long mulberry tree-shaded promenade, especially vibrant in the evenings when foreign visitors rub shoulders with locals, who could be fishers, artists, olive oil producers, beekeepers, farmers. To wander here, at leisure, rewards travellers with superb panoramas, picturesque car-free lanes and a great choice of shops, galleries, tavernas, cafes and bars. For those looking for convenience and authenticity combined, Skopelos Town is the ideal choice.
A short, very easy walk to the south of town, located in a flat semi-rural area back from the sea, is Villa Livadi; a bungalow-style, three-bedroomed house that is at one with the scattering of other buildings in the local neighbourhood.
The interior is fresh and modern with white walls and high vaulted ceilings. The design places space and light at its heart, using a large open-plan living room to bring people together - imagine a New York loft apartment and you'll have the correct image in your mind. There is a comfortable lounge area with sofas and a TV, a modern kitchen and a connected dining area with fireplace - the perfect spot for your morning coffee or for a games evening with family and friends.
Outside is a swimming pool (5m x 8.5m) with sun terrace, BBQ and dining area. There is a small additional roof terrace with views over neighbouring houses towards the sea.
Car hire is not essential here, but worthwhile for those wishing to explore the island and its multitude of beaches and bays. A 10 minute stroll will bring you to the harbour front and only 300m to the town beach.
Villa Livadi is for those who want to be close to all the attractions of town and yet have space and peace to relax and enjoy each others company.
