Plomari - GIC The Villa Collection

Plomari is not a resort but a working town in the south of Lesvos with a population of around 3,300. Nearby are the small summer resort villages of Agios Isidoros (its beach was voted in the 10 best beaches in Greece) and Agia Barbara.

But, for those interested in aniseed drinks, then they conveniently find themselves in the Ouzo capital of the world. There are 17 Ouzo distilleries in Plomari, representing 50% of Greek Ouzo production. The local festival (panagiri) season begins in mid-July with an ouzo festival and then just carries on through the summer!

Though not a resort, most of the villas to be found on Lesvos are all around the Plomari district, where, it is said, is the greatest concentration of Greek South Africans in the country. As a result the area has seen considerable local investment resulting in the proliferation of luxury properties.
