Vamos - GIC The Villa Collection

Is the capital of the Apokoronos district and a historically interesting village and site of many battles in the late 19th century in the fight for independence from Turkish rule, which has been designated a perfect example of 'traditional' by the Greek Ministry of the Environment. Vamos is really a small town with many folk and neoclassical architectural influences. A group of inhabitants have created an association for the preservation and promotion of the village. There are some very interesting buildings in the village, notably the churches of Agios Nikolaos and Agios Georgios and the restored school, originally built in 1863. The village holds very popular art and cultural festivals which reflect the hospitality of the village.

Twenty six kilometres from Chanea, the village has narrow cobblestone streets and lanes passing by interesting and attractive stone houses. There is a large square shaded by plane trees. The beaches of Kalives are 6km away. Vamos has a good selection of traditional tavernas, coffee shops, post office, bank, chemist and a variety of small shops.
