Perama - GIC The Villa Collection

Perama Beach or rather beaches, because there are several shingle beaches that stretch along the east coast of the island, lies 10 km from Corfu town and 7 km from the airport. Verdant green hills of pine and olive rise steeply behind the beach area where there are several tavernas and bars. Here, you have crystal clear waters which were much beloved of Gerald Durrell who, as a child, took the first steps to be a marine biologist by investigating marine life at Perama.

Benitses, with an image now reverted to that of a traditional Greek village and far removed from the boisterous young destination of the 1980s is a short bus trip away (euros 1.50) and Corfu Town a ten euro taxi ride. For those requiring a little exercise whilst on holiday there is a walking trail from Corfu Town to Perama which takes about 1.5 hours.
