There is a reason for its name “Lookout” and this is apparent from the moment you approach the villa. At every turn a kaleidoscope of blues stretches out before your eyes, uninterrupted all the way across the strait to Albania. In the evening, the darkness gives way to the twinkling of stars above thanks to minimal light pollution.

A downhill stroll leads to Kalami, once home to the Durrell brothers - Lawrence and Gerald (authors of Prospero’s Cell and My Family and Other Animals respectively). There is a handful of tavernas in Kalami, a few bars and minimarkets, all you could need for a relaxing week. It is also possible to hire a boat from the harbour and use the local water taxi service to reach the village of Agni further along the coast. A bus service also connects the village to the north of the island and Corfu Town.

A couple of minutes' walk in the other direction is the pretty bay of Kouloura – a favourite of the GIC team. Here you’ll find a small harbour, a local fish taverna and a shingle beach (5 minutes) naturally shaded, perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
