Barbati - GIC The Villa Collection

At the foot of the mighty Pantocrator mountain, (the highest point of the island), stretches the stunning, kilometre long shingle and pebble beach of Barbati.

The longest and perhaps most impressive of many exceptionally pretty beaches along the famous North East Coast of Corfu, Barbati, an annex of the traditional mountain village of Spartillas, has developed over the years from olive and orange groves into a prized and popular beach holiday location for locals and visitors alike.

The main village comprising a large church, residential areas, holiday residences and some excellent tavernas, cafe-bars, souvenir shops and minimarkets is spread above the beach along the coastal road. Here the sea views are breathtaking and there are plenty of choices for wining and dining in the evening in particular.

The more coveted areas of the village are down by the sea. The beach is a delight and holds treasure for all. With crystal clear, almost always calm waters and plenty of space it is little wonder that this beach has become such a temptation for pleasure hunters from Corfu and all over the world.

There are several small roads and pathways that lead from the beach up to the village, and plenty of places to enjoy on the sea for those that prefer not to walk up the short hill.

The southern end is generally reasonably quiet with some pretty residences and no sunbeds. This area is a favourite with local people and families. For the more adventurous, near the centre of the beach is a large water sports jetty next to a smart and popular beach bar which offers meals, a children's play area and weekend dancing or outdoor films.

A little further along, small self drive boats can be hired for the day, (a fantastic way to enjoy this lovely coastline) and there are another three charming beachside restaurants and bars, one with a large public pool.

As well as being a resort with something for everyone, thus negating the need for a car, Barbati is also on the main bus route to Corfu town, many popular excursions can pick up here and for the explorers, it is close to both the mountains, coast and Corfu town by car and offers the memorable option of exploring the island by sea.
