Anaxos, neighbouring Petra, has a fine sandy beach, a good choice of cafes and tavernas and has a very relaxed atmosphere.
This northern part of Lesvos offers plenty of things to do and see away from the beach. The boat trips here are varied and inexpensive, there is a dive school, you can visit the Petrified Forest in Lesvos' wild west or Pergamon in Turkey, go on a jeep safari, or try your hand at donkey trekking.
