GIC The Villa Collection formerly known as Greek Islands Club (GIC), offers comfortable, secluded properties, most with private pool, to the Greek islands of Corfu, Paxos, Antipaxos, Lefkas, Meganissi, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Alonissos, Skopelos, Skiathos, Crete and Sivota.
We have been established for 43 years, and our aim has always been to offer our customers maximum flexibility and to provide precisely the holiday they seek. We can rightly claim to have been ahead of our time now that the unpackaged holiday – always our speciality – is so much in fashion. For us, however, unpackaging does not mean penny-pinching by cutting corners. Our customers – 70% of whom give us their business repeatedly or who have been recommended to contact us by their friends – tell us that they like the way we organise their holidays, and we plan to continue to offer precisely what our regular customers enjoy: the best all-round service possible.
Should you have a problem with any part of our arrangements, our directors or (incase of emergency) 24-hour duty manager will do their utmost to assist. If our suppliers are at fault in anyway, you can look to us in our Middlesex offices for a solution – we will not pass the buck.Personal Service
For 43 years we have tried to preserve a personal service for all those who holiday with us. There will be no attempt to organise you. Having met you at the airport, and settled you at your villa, we see it as our task to provide, unobtrusively, a range of services on which you can rely if the need arises.
Each and every GIC villa offers something unique that makes it that extra bit special – whether it be a cottage close to the sea with a boat mooring, a child-friendly villa with pool or a village home where you can truly immerse yourself in the local community. Properties are handpicked for their privacy, standards of comfort and proximity to the sea.The Villa Collection & Sunvil
GIC – The Villa Collection (Greek Islands Club) became part of the Sunvil Family in 1998 making Sunvil the leading specialist operator to Greece and her islands.
Sunvil has pioneered many specialist destinations in its 41-year history. The original directors still play an active part in the day-to-day running of the company and we are all proud that repeat and recommended holidaymakers make up 70% of our customers – due testament to our expertise and dedication to quality.
Everyone in the team visits our specialist destinations many times: they know them and our properties, self-catering or hotel, extremely well. Unusually, in this web-based travel age, we take full responsibility for our holidays, too, putting us in the very top echelon of companies that you can really trust to look after your holiday plans. Sunvil is proud, over 41 years, to have gained many accolades and awards, both from the travel industry itself and from the national press and leading consumer publications such as Holiday Which? and Wanderlust magazine.
Please note that Greek Islands Club is a subsidiary of Sunvil Holidays. It is fully bonded for its total turnover and is a member of ABTA.
In 2010 we were voted one of the top five ‘Best Villa Rental Company’ by readers of Conde Nast Traveller for the second year running.Your holiday is fully protected
Our holidays conform to the full bonding requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL 848). We are also members of the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) and the Association of British Travel Agents (Y1612).GIC was the original villa specialist to Greece - and it remains the best
Responsible Tourism is, without doubt, the current buzz word for the tourism industry but what does it mean? In general terms, Responsible Tourism aims ‘to create better places for people to live in, and better places for people to visit’.
For us at GIC – The Villa Collection, this means building close relationships with our destinations and working alongside our local agents and the host communities to develop a sustainable and culturally sensitive tourism industry that aims to bring long-term social, economic and environmental benefits. We are not a company that introduces a destination only to remove it after a couple of years – we are dedicated to the destinations that we feature.
The Travel FoundationThe Travel Foundation is the the UK travel industry's charity that cares for the places we love to visit.
Your holiday can make a real difference to your favourite destinations. It can help protect the natural environment, traditions and culture – the things that make your visit special. And it can improve the well-being of local families – so that more people benefit from your visit. All of which can make your holiday experience even better!
Most importantly, it can help ensure that there are great places for us all to visit – for generations to come.
GIC - The Villa Collection, along with many other travel companies, is supporting the work of The Travel Foundation by donating 50p from every holiday booked direct to the charity.
On your holiday confirmation and account you will see we have added £1 in case you should want to match GIC - The Villa Collection's contribution. Should you not wish to do so, simply deduct this amount from your final payment.
The UK is taking a lead in changing the way the world travels.
Carbon Offsets & Climate Change
Many of us are aware that taking a flight on holiday is not good for the environment. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is produced by aircraft burning fuel. There is increasing recognition that this is contributing to climate change.
The flights taken by our customers generate about 12,000 tonnes of CO2 every year – around the same as 3,500 cars. Taking a return flight to Greece means you are responsible for about 0.6 tonnes of CO2 being released into the atmosphere.
Together with Carbon Offsets Limited, the company entrusted with administering the ABTA/AITO Carbon Reduction Programme (Reduce My Footprint) GIC-The Villa Collection is offering you the chance to help offset some of the damage these emissions will cause. Offsetting is straightforward. Donations made will be invested in verified offset projects with wider sustainable development benefits, such as renewable energy, that generate CO2 savings to balance out your emissions. To date, our clients have been successful in raising over £64,000 from carbon offset contributions since February 2007. It’s simple and it’s easy – and though not the perfect solution, every bit helps!
The science of climate change, in particular the overall impact of aviation, is not fully understood yet. However, we would like to encourage you to take this small personal step. We would also encourage you to consider other things you might do to reduce your own emissions at home and work which will address the problem of climate change. At GIC – The Villa Collection, for instance, we now offset all our staff air travel and we ensure that we switch off our computers and screens every night. We are reviewing our whole operation with a view to taking further action, too.
How it works:
On your holiday confirmation and account you will see that we have added £3 per person, which represents the cost of carbon offsetting your flight to Greece. This is, of course, a matter of personal choice – if you choose not to do so, then please simply deduct the amount from your invoice.
Carbon offsetting is not the total answer. All of us are taking too many flights each year and the trend to several short breaks per annum is adding to the problem. We have to make a start somewhere and, hopefully, from these small steps there will be a positive knock-on effect which will go some way towards safeguarding the planet.

Our Project in Romania:
Retezat National Park is located in the Southern Carpathians in Wallachia, Romania and covers over 38.000 hectares. The Park shelters one of Europe's last remaining, unaffected natural primary forest and the largest single area of pristine mixed forest. Wolves, brown bear, wild boar, lynx, wildcat, chamois, roe and red deer, as well as small carnivore species such as badger and otter populate the area.
The money donated by our customers will fund two carbon offset initiatives within the Park; the implementation of alternative energy systems (solar power) for the visitor centres, community centres and information points and the introduction of bio-fuel minibuses and a new car park to reduce car access into the heart of the forest.
