KALAMAKIA

Kalamakia is a tiny port, half way up the east coast of Alonissos. The port is effectively home for four local families. The wives and daughters look after the four waterfront tavernas and the husbands and sons cast their nets daily from their caiques to ensure a rich selection of fresh fish. Nearest provisions are in Steni Vala, further south along the east coast, a drive of five to ten minutes, where there is a mini market and waterfront tavernas. A hired boat can be moored in the port of Kalamakia.
