Haliotata - GIC The Villa Collection

Set high above the sea on Kefalonia's eastern coast, this small, sparsely populated, traditional village has breathtaking views across olive groves and pine trees to the bay of Sami. This is a quiet, rural spot yet 4 kilometres below is the port of Sami with its attractive waterfront tavernas, cafe bars and varied shops. The seaside village of Agia Efimia is a 20 minute drive.

The famous Drogarati Cave, also called The Concert cave is near Haliotata. The cave consists of two parts, the first was once an extension of the main cave, but its roof collapsed, transforming it into a depression in the ground. The part of the cave that is now open to the public consists of a large chamber approximately 100 metres long. It is divided into two areas by massive stone blocks that have broken away from the roof, forming a natural platform, decorated from above with translucent stalactites, called the royal balcony. Below this balcony extends the second area, called the Apotheosis Room. This is a semicircular hall measuring 65 x 45 metres and 20 metres high, the vault of which is richly decorated with stalactites. It has exceptionally good acoustics and is used as a concert hall seating 500 persons.
