SPARTIA
A sleepy whitewashed, hillside village in the Livatho region of Kefalonia's south coast. The village is a mass of tiny streets where it is very easy to get lost - apparently so designed to keep out pirates in days gone by. A very friendly village where a smile and a wave are commonplace. Though only 15km from Argostoli, Spartia has remained traditional and untouristic and feels very much off the beaten track. Close to the small village square is a taverna and two mini markets. It is a mile, through lush countryside, down to the sea where there are two small sandy beaches one on either side of the village jetty. Both beaches are good for children as the sand shelves gently into the water. There are also rocky outcrops, especially at Liakas Bay which make for very good snorkelling. An ideal location for walkers too.
