The local word ‘Apaggio’ means a peaceful recluse. From Vathy a road winds its way south through a beautiful, undulating landscape with only a very few houses and dramatic views to the sea.

This southern part of Ithaca produces most of the island's wine and hillsides show off an attractive patchwork of vineyards, olive groves and pine forest.

Two kilometres from Vathy, just off this road, lies Villa Apaggio. Set in private gardens of olive, pear, lemon and fig trees with pool and barbecue terraces bordered by roses, Villa Apaggio is a peaceful retreat with gentle views over olive-clad hillsides to the sea.
