KIONI

The Coastal road ends at Kioni. Like Fiscardo, in the North of Cephalonia, the 1953 earthquakes did not cause much damage here, with fine a examples of 19th century architecture still in evidence.

The entrance to Kioni Harbour is overlooked by three old windmills and, from here, one can see the old village houses dotted on the hillsides behind the little port. The water is clear and there are four beaches within the bay itself, all with views across to the pastel coloured houses and surrounding olive groves.

There are five waterfront tavernas and three small cafe bars. A general store sells everything from snorkels to fresh peaches.
