Lying several miles down a twisty road and 30km from Corfu Town, this beautiful bay in the North West of the island is a quiet backwater and ideal for a relaxing, family holiday, away from the bustle of the large resorts. Agios Georgios consists of a collection of private houses, small hotels, mini-markets, the odd gift shop, a few apartments and tavernas which sprawl lazily behind the beach road. There is a watersports club at one end of the sandy beach.
Behind the beach is a countryside of fields, olive groves and wooded hills dotted with little villages. When viewed from a distance, the ancient olives trees, with their contorted and perforated trunks form a greyish green carpet, interspersed by the darker greens of the numerous, tall, pencil shaped cypress trees. An excellent area for country walks and nightlife is what one makes of it.
